With a youthful, mobile-savvy population, a growing support ecosystem and an ever-increasing business space for entrepreneurs, Nigeria is the biggest market for technology-driven solutions, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Jumia Nigeria, Nicholas Martin, has said.

Martin said this on day-two of the TECH+ Exhibition and Conference, held in Lagos, noting that the Nigerian economy stands a huge chance to grow from opportunities available from technology.

He said Nigeria was at the forefront of technology and the best place for the next mobile revolution, if government and the private sector can develop needed infrastructure to strengthen the ecosystem for innovation in technology in Lagos and other cities.

According to him, “It is not that it is going to be a place for the smartest people in the world, but it is only here that there is a massively connected population. It is ahead of China, India and the United States. Over there, the desire to patronise mobile Internet and services is much lower. Here it is different.

“We are working with MTN to ensure people can retail on mobile. We are dong retail on mobile re-inventing the wheel online. We have thousands of people that have downloaded our app and are making purchase. Some of them have never seen a laptop or a desktop. Where Nigeria is going to have an edge over other countries in the wave of software revolution is mobile.”

On her part, Senior Manager, Masterbrand, MTN, Mrs. Saidat Lawal-Mohammed said the company was creating an enabling environment and re-working with partners to ensure the growth of the ecosystem.

She said, “We want to also encourage consumers to try some of the apps that Nigerians have built.
