A presidential aspirant under the platform of the Accord Party (AP), Prof. Christopher Imumolen, has advocated for the emergence of youthful leadership for Nigeria in the 2023 general election.

Imumolen made the call at a Presidential Leadership and Consultative meeting held with party members from 17 southern states at Sango-Ota, Ogun State.

The presidential aspirant noted that most of the current and past leaders of the country were at their best in leadership when they had the opportunity as youth.

He called for the election of youths in the coming elections, noting that he has the capacity to also lead the country as a youth.

Imumolen, who said that Nigeria of 2023 and beyond would not need leaders with a walking stick but a younger generation to give the leadership a new lease of life, expressed happiness that younger people are now showing interest to take over the leadership of the country.

He said: “The world is going digital and I believe the youths are more exposed internationally in ICT and in tackling various challenges than the older generation.

“My ambition is to move the country forward and I believe with new ideologies, youthful and vibrant ambition, Nigeria is on the right part and will be great.

“Nigeria, with a population of over 200 million, certainly is a great country and such leadership will go a long way to make it a greater place.

“Youths in the country between the ages of 18 and 35 are more than older generations, yet the country has not been able to translate the energy of the youths into development.

“Young Nigerians do not only suffer marginalisation from a government that is run by a gerontocracy, they are also the victims of bad governance.

”This is why I asked Nigerians to vote for people like me during the general elections if I am able to secure my party’s ticket.”

Other speakers at the event urged Nigerians to vote out those that do not place their welfare at the front burner.

The meeting was attended by students, women leaders, and members of the party from the three southern zones of the country.
