Court remands fake doctor for allegedly causing woman’s death

Jails three others for stealing N4m electrical cables in Ibadan
An Iyaganku Magistrate’s Court in Ibadan has remanded a 55-year-old fake doctor, Moyosore Johnson, in a correctional centre for allegedly causing the death of a woman.
Johnson, whose address was not provided, was arraigned on a four-count charge of conspiracy and causing death through negligence. Magistrate Kausarat Ayofe did not take the defendant’s plea due to a lack of jurisdiction. She directed the police to return the case file to the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) for advice and adjourned the matter until March 27 for mention.
Earlier, the prosecutor, Inspector Segun Adegboye, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on July 5, 2024, at approximately 10:00 a.m. at Apata Igbala Hospital in Iseyin, Oyo State. Adegboye alleged that Johnson unlawfully accelerated the cause of death of one Badirat Adebayo, 26, by performing surgery on her. He further alleged that Johnson removed Adebayo’s womb, leading to her death.
According to the prosecutor, the offences contravene Sections 516 and 319 of the Criminal Laws of Oyo State. In a separate case, the same court has remanded three men for allegedly breaking and entering into a residential house to steal electrical cables valued at N4 million.
The defendants, Victor Adewale, 23, Olajide Mubarak, 18, and Isiaka Abdullahi, 18, were arraigned on a three-count charge of conspiracy, breaking and entering, and stealing.
The Chief Magistrate, Mrs Olabisi Ogunkanmi, ordered their remand at the Agodi Correctional Facility in Ibadan, pending advice from the Directorate of Public Prosecution (DPP), and adjourned the matter until May 25 for mention.
Earlier, prosecuting counsel Olapeju Durodola informed the court that the three defendants, along with others now at large, allegedly conspired to commit the crimes. Durodola stated that on January 16, at approximately 6:45 p.m. in the Omin-Adio area of Ibadan, the defendants broke into the house of one Ayoade Adekunle, the complainant, with the intent to commit theft. She further stated that the defendants stole electrical cables and fittings valued at N4 million, the property of the complainant.
Durodola added that the offences are contrary to Section 383 of the Criminal Code Laws of Oyo State 2000, and punishable under Sections 390(9), 411(2), and 516.
