Again, two tankers loaded with fuel have caught fire in Oyo State.
The incident occurred along the Ibadan-Ile-Ife Expressway. It occurred opposite Current Foam along the Ife/Ibadan Expressway in Ibadan around 9 a.m. on Wednesday.
The fire incident was the result of a trailer tanker loaded with 45,000 litres of PMS, which lost control while in motion, swerved off the road, fell into a nearby ditch, and caught fire.
It was learned that another tanker caught fire in the process.
The General Manager of Oyo State Fire Service, Mr. Yemi Akinyinka, confirmed the development in a statement on Thursday.
Akinyinka noted that the fire incident involved the two tankers.
The GM said, “The fire incident was reported at exactly 09:29hrs on Wednesday, 16th April 2025.
“Immediately, the address was taken, firemen led by ACFS Adesina Olusoji were promptly deployed to the scene of the incident. On arrival, we found two trailer tankers engulfed in fire. We quickly swung into action and were able to curtail the fire in time.
“The fire incident was the result of a trailer tanker loaded with 45,000 litres of PMS losing control while in motion, swerving off the road, and falling into a nearby ditch, which led to the fire.
“The presence of the security agencies was also appreciated for providing security cover during the firefighting operation.”
