Buni disburses N58m to families of fallen soldiers, supports injured troops

Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni, has disbursed N58 million to the families of soldiers killed in a recent Boko Haram attack on the 27 Task Force Brigade headquarters in Buni/Gari, Gujba Local Council.

According to a statement by Mamman Mohammed, Director General of Press and Media Affairs to the governor, each family of the fallen soldiers will receive N2 million, amounting to N30 million in total for their daily welfare. Additionally, the 28 injured soldiers will each receive N1 million as support from the state government.

During his visit to the 27 Task Force Brigade headquarters, Buni expressed his sympathies to the military and pledged continued support for troops engaged in counter-terrorism operations in the Sambisa Forest.

“The fallen heroes did not die in vain but were defending the country for us to live peacefully in our communities,” Buni said, acknowledging their sacrifices.

As part of efforts to boost troop morale, Buni also announced the donation of N50 million to the brigade. Alongside the financial support, he facilitated the distribution of food and non-food items, including essential supplies for soldiers stationed at the front lines.

The governor assured the troops of the state government’s unwavering support in the fight against terrorism, including reinforcement of security at the Task Force Brigade headquarters.

The Brigade Commander, General Usman Ahmed, thanked Governor Buni for his exceptional concern and continued assistance to troops operating in the forests and communities.
