The Calabar Municipal Council, Cross River State, has unveiled an automated revenue system at the Ika Ika Oqua, popularly called Marian Market.
Speaking at the launch, council chairman Apostle James Anam reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to reducing the burden of over-taxation on traders while promoting transparency and ease of doing business within the municipality.
He described the new system as a deliberate effort to upgrade the market’s operations and make Calabar Municipality a model for other local governments in the State.
“This innovation is part of our broader vision to transform market administration and empower local businesses,” Apostle Anam stated. “We are putting structures in place that serve the people, not stifle them.”
The Supervisor for Finance and Internal Affairs, Mr. Henry Okon, praised the initiative, highlighting that the automated system would harmonize revenue collection, eliminate leakages, and increase productivity within the Council.
He emphasized that the platform will also ensure greater accountability in the management of public funds.
Member representing Calabar Municipality in the State House of Assembly, Hon. Stanley Nsemo, lauded the Chairman’s clear vision and leadership.
He expressed confidence that Apostle Anam’s programs would bring lasting development and prayed for divine strength to see them through.
