Easter: Lagos NSCDC deploys 2,250 officers to protect critical assets, infrastructure

The Lagos State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has deployed 2,250 officers and men to strategic locations across the state in commemoration of this year’s Good Friday and Easter celebration.

The Federal Government, through the Minister of Interior, Dr Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, has declared today, Friday, April 18, and Monday, April 21, 2025, as public holidays to mark the celebration.

The State Commandant of NSCDC, Lagos State Command, Mr Adedotun Keshinro, reaffirmed the command’s commitment to protecting all critical national assets and infrastructure in the state across all sectors of the nation’s economy.

He stated that the deployment of 2,250 officers and men was to ensure adequate security and protection of these critical assets. The commandant emphasised the importance of timely deployment of security personnel during such festive periods.

Keshinro, who addressed officers and men from various departments, units, and tactical squads yesterday, noted that operational strategies had been reinvigorated to rid the state of criminals and to eradicate the nefarious activities of vandals and other criminal elements that could harm economic growth and development, especially during this crucial season and beyond.

“The command will also collaborate with other sister security agencies across the state to achieve optimal success during this critical period.”

“Officers and men of the command have been charged to bring the right and appropriate impetus on board to protect all strategic locations, points, facilities, rights of way, oil pipeline installations, religious and worship centres, parks and gardens, and all assets belonging to the federal, state, and local governments within the state before, during, and after the celebration,” he said.

Keshinro assured all residents that the command would not rest on its laurels during this period. Instead, it would deploy both physical and non-physical assets, robust intelligence gathering, intensive patrols—both physical and psychological—crime prevention mechanisms, special responses by the Special Female Squad (SFS), the Quick Intervention Squad (QIS) approach, and a collective security strategy to ensure comprehensive safety throughout the season.

The commandant also congratulated Christian faithful in the state and urged all to imbibe the virtues that characterise this season: love, sacrifice, passion, humility, and tolerance, among others.
