Easter: NGO provides food items for widows, orphans in FCT

As Nigeria joins the rest of the world to commemorate Easter, a non-governmental organisation, Faith Adekunle Charity Mission, has provided food items to widows and orphans in Nigeria’s Federal Capital Territory.

According to the organisation, the occasion demonstrates its compassion and support for vulnerable members of the community.

Some of the items distributed included rice, cassava flakes, vegetable oil, yam, seasoning, and other home provisions.

The Guardian reports that the event, which was held at the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Overcomers Chapel, Gwarinpa, Abuja, benefited over 500 homes.

In her remarks, Chief Executive of the Mission, Engr. Adefunke Adekunle said the gesture was a reflection of the organization’s commitment to serving humanity, particularly during festive periods.

Adekunle underscored the importance of kindness, empathy, and support for vulnerable populations, highlighting its mission to make a positive impact in the community.

She said: “As we celebrate the season of Easter, a time of hope and renewal, I am reminded of the profound responsibility we share to uplift the most vulnerable among us. At Faith Adekunle Charity Mission, we are driven by this responsibility, and this year, we are focusing our efforts on providing essential support to orphans and widows who face increasing hardships due to rising food inflation in our nation.

“This mission reflects our core belief: that the true measure of a society lies in how it cares for its most disadvantaged members. It is not only an act of charity but a commitment to building a culture of compassion and resilience.

“We understand that the economic realities many families face today make even the simplest celebration seem out of reach. This is why our NGO is stepping in to ensure that these individuals can share in the joy and dignity of the Easter season. However, this is a cause no single organization can achieve alone.

“I invite you our leaders, partners, and change makers to join us in this impactful mission. Whether through financial contributions, volunteering, or amplifying this call to action, your involvement can bring hope to countless lives this Easter.”

In separate interviews, some of the beneficiaries, Rose Usman and Habiba Emmanuel, expressed gratitude and appreciation for the gesture, describing the food items as a significant relief and blessing, especially during the Easter celebration.

They praised the Mission for its kindness and generosity, highlighting the positive impact of the donation on their lives.
