Cititrust Holdings Plc has announced its decision to appeal a recent forfeiture order issued by the Federal High Court in Lagos, asserting that the judgment does not reflect the facts presented in court.
In a statement signed by Barrister Josiah Adebayo, legal counsel to Cititrust Holdings Plc, the company addressed the ruling in a case brought by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
“We are aware of a recent Federal High Court judgment against Cititrust Holdings PLC, in a matter filed by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission. While the judgment did not align with the facts before the Court, we respect the judiciary and the legal redress process. In view of this, we have appealed the judgment to the Court of Appeal,” Adebayo stated.
The company sought to reassure its stakeholders, customers, and the public, emphasising its commitment to transparency and justice. “We want to reassure the relevant stakeholders, customers, and the general public that this outcome does not define our values or our commitment to resolving all outstanding issues. We believe that justice will prevail,” the statement continued.
Cititrust underscored its dedication to serving its community and clients with a customer-centric approach. “Our priority remains to serve our community and clients with transparency and where there are difficulties, to resolve them in a customer-centric way. We are taking this moment as an opportunity to reflect, improve, and ensure that we come up with an outcome that satisfies our stakeholders,” Adebayo added.
Acknowledging external challenges, the statement noted, “While we are aware of the campaign of calumny in some quarters and the narrative of our traducers, we are focused on addressing existing challenges and obtaining justice. We look forward to justifying public trust in our company.”
Cititrust Holdings Plc remains optimistic about a favourable outcome at the Court of Appeal, reaffirming its resolve to uphold public trust and address all issues transparently.
