The Nigerian-American Chamber of Commerce has recognised Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State for what it described as his transformative community service, leadership qualities, and commitment to improving security across the state.

Governor Lawal received the award at a ceremony held at the Continental Hotel, Lagos, as part of events marking the Chamber’s 65th anniversary. Established as Nigeria’s first bilateral chamber of commerce, the Nigerian-American Chamber is a membership-based trade organisation committed to strengthening economic ties between the two countries.

In a statement released by his spokesperson, Sulaiman Bala Idris, the governor was praised for his academic background, leadership style, and developmental strides. The statement noted that Lawal was honoured alongside his counterparts from Lagos, Kaduna, and Akwa Ibom states.

The event also marked the formal inauguration of Sheriff Balogun as the Chamber’s 20th President. The occasion brought together key figures from government and business, including high-ranking officials from both Nigeria and the United States.

The Chamber commended Governor Lawal’s backing of commercial growth in Zamfara, particularly within the agricultural sector. It also acknowledged his administration’s prioritisation of healthcare, education, and empowerment programmes aimed at uplifting the lives of ordinary citizens.

In his acceptance remarks, Governor Lawal dedicated the award to the people of Zamfara and reaffirmed his dedication to public service.

“I want to thank the Nigerian-American Chamber of Commerce leadership for finding me worthy of this recognition. It will encourage me to do more. This is for all the people of Zamfara State,” the governor said.

Since assuming office, Governor Lawal has made service delivery and human development central pillars of his administration, with a focus on security reform, access to quality healthcare, and inclusive education.
