Insecurity: Oborevwori assures corps members of safety

Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, on Friday, assured 1802 Prospective Corps Members of the 2025 batch A deployed to the state of their safety and well-being during the mandatory one-year national service.

Oborevweri, represented by the commissioner for Youth Development, Mr. ThankGod Harry Trakiriowei, gave the assurance at the swearing-in ceremony of the 2025 batch A stream orientation course, Isse -Uku, Aniocha North council of the State.

The Governor, while congratulating the corps members, said the swearing-in ceremony is a significant beginning, and they will find Delta State to be home away from home.

He urged the corps members not to entertain any fear wherever they are posted, as the state government is fully committed to their safety, having engaged all stakeholders across the 25 local government areas and community leaders to treat corps members with utmost care.

According to him, “We have engaged and sensitized relevant stakeholders, including community leaders and residents, to treat corps members with utmost care, respect, and hospitality.

“Additionally, we continue to encourage the private sector and employers of corps members to support NYSC activities, particularly Community Development Service (CDS) projects.”

Earlier, the state coordinator, NYSC Delta State, Mr. John Vandi Kwaghe, said, “The three-week orientation programme is carefully designed to equip corps members with the necessary skills and right values for national interest.”

He said 1,802 prospective corps members, comprising 829 males and 973 females, were registered at the state orientation course.
