Jigawa State Commissioner of Health, Dr. Kaunuwa Abdullahi Mohammed, said the government has committed over N15 billion to boost the state’s health sector in the last two years.
Speaking at a community engagement programme held at Metropolitan Dutse LGA, Mohammed said the money was spent on renovations and upgrading of all the Primary Health Centres of the 281 polling units.
Others include the award of contracts for the construction of a Dutse Ultra Modern Cardiac Diagnosing Hospital at N1.1 billion and the provision of needed equipment and utilities for the specialist hospital at N4.553 billion.
According to Dr. Kaunuwa, we expended not less than N920m towards the upward renovation of all the cottage hospitals within Metropolitan Dutse. These include Sakwaya Hospital at N132 million, Jaudi Hospital, N116 million, and Kudai Hospital at N126 million.
Others are Wurma Hospital N123 million, Madobi Hospital at N119 million, among others. Apart from injecting N220 million towards the wiring of the Solar installation of the Dutse General Hospital.
Also, he said the state government has completed the construction of a modern medical store at Birnin Kudu for N814 million.
The commissioner disclosed that the Jigawa State Government has procured a stock of malnutrition commodities and supplies for three designated hospitals in Sakwaya, Dutse, and Kudai Health facility.
