Lagos to host 2025 job fair to tackle youth unemployment

The Lagos State Government, through its Ministry of Wealth Creation and Employment, has announced it will hold the 2025 Job Fair on Thursday, September 11, 2025, at the Blue Roof, Lagos State Television, Ikeja.

The state government on Friday said the job fair is designed to connect thousands of young Lagosians with job and entrepreneurial opportunities across various industries, with the theme “Your Career, Your Way: Explore Endless Possibilities.”

It added that the job fair has become one of the state’s flagship platforms for addressing youth unemployment. The Job Fair will bring together job seekers, young professionals, aspiring entrepreneurs, and leading employers across diverse sectors of the economy.

Commissioner for Wealth Creation and Employment, Akinyemi Bankole Ajigbotafe, stated that the fair reflects the state government’s commitment to creating jobs and developing skills, aligning with Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s T.H.E.M.E.S Plus Agenda, particularly focusing on education, technology, and transforming Lagos into a 21st-century economy.

Ajigbotafe disclosed that this year’s edition will feature on-the-spot job interviews and recruitment by top organisations, one-on-one career consultations with industry professionals, and a high-level panel session with business leaders and thought experts exploring strategies for navigating today’s dynamic job market.

According to him, participants will also benefit from breakout workshops on résumé writing, interview coaching, digital product creation, and entrepreneurship.

Ajigbotafe noted that the 2024 Job Fair recorded over 3,000 participants, with many securing meaningful employment opportunities.

The 2025 Fair, he assured, will build on these successes by bridging the gap between talent and opportunity, equipping young people with digital competencies, career-readiness skills, and access to employment networks.

“By fostering strong partnerships between government, the private sector, and multinational organisations, the Job Fair reinforces Lagos State’s position as Nigeria’s hub of innovation, entrepreneurship, and sustainable development.”

The Permanent Secretary, Esv. Wasiu Adebayo Olayinka encouraged job seekers, graduates, and professionals to take advantage of the opportunity by registering for the event.

Olayinka assured that the Ministry has made adequate preparations to deliver a successful and impactful Job Fair.
