NSCDC arrests three for vandalising water corporation pipes in Osun

Operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Osun State Command, have arrested three individuals for vandalising water pipes belonging to the Osun State Water Corporation.

According to the state Commandant, Igbalawole Sotiyo, in a statement issued on Thursday by the command’s spokesperson, Kehinde Adeleke, one Michael Odeniran, aged 43, Ganiyu Mutiu Olalekan, 32, and Muritala Ridwan, 32, were arrested on April 10, 2025, at about 11:00am at Oloki Reservoir Site via Akoda, along Gbongan-Osogbo road, Osun State.

Sotiyo stated that a discreet investigation revealed that the suspects, who are laterite miners, damaged a 450mm pipe while mining laterite.

They were subsequently arraigned before a Magistrate Court at Ede on April 24, 2025, where they pleaded not guilty. The court remanded them to the Ife Correctional Centre.

Commandant Sotiyo warned those vandalising government infrastructure to desist from such acts or face the consequences.

“NSCDC is committed to protecting Critical National Assets and Infrastructure, and those found culpable will be brought to justice,” he said
