THE Ogun State Police command has intensified efforts to arrest kidnappers of Mrs. Ajoke Ajayi, a major newspaper distributor in Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State.

Ajayi was abducted on Monday morning by a four-man heavily armed gang while on her way to her office in Ijebu-Ode.

The Command’s spokesman, Mr. Muyiwa Adejobi told The Guardian yesterday that the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Operations) had already deployed a crack anti-robbery squad to assist the Ijebu-Ode police to ensure that the culprits are arrested immediately.

“We will do everything to ensure that those criminals in the act are arrested immediately. Our men are already making progress in their efforts”.

He recalled that sometime ago, kidnappings were rampant in the Ijebu axis of the state “but we succeeded in stopping it but it is regrettable that it has resurfaced. We will do everything possible to stop it permanently”.

Mrs. Ajoke, the victim, who is an agent for all national and community newspapers, is said to be a very wealthy woman, who has been in the business for over 40 years.

The kidnappers are said to have reduced their N40 million ransom to N20 million.
