Single mother seeks N3m for son’s cancer surgery
A single mother, Comfort Oahimije, is seeking N3 million to fund the cancer treatment and surgery of her seven-year-old son, David, who has been diagnosed with stage 4 nephroblastoma (Wilms tumour), which has spread to his lungs.
According to a medical report from the Irrua Specialist Teaching Hospital in Edo State, David is battling left-sided nephroblastoma, which has caused significant mass effects on surrounding organs and metastasis to his lungs.
The report stated that N3 million is required to cover both chemotherapy and surgery. The treatment plan includes two cycles of neoadjuvant chemotherapy before surgery, followed by six months of adjuvant chemotherapy, amounting to eight cycles in total. Each cycle is expected to last 21 days.
Oahimije’s mother, who sells petty goods on the campus of Ambrose Alli University in Ekpoma, narrated her financial struggles, revealing that she has exhausted her savings and taken loans to fund her son’s tests, scans, and hospital transportation.
Desperate for help, she turned to the Gifting Volunteer Network, pleading for assistance. “I am the only child my parents had. I only have my elderly mother and no one else. I am a single parent selling at Ekpoma University. Please help me; I do not want to lose my son to cancer,” she said.
She further appealed to Nigerians to support her son’s treatment through the Gifting Volunteer Network. “I have already taken loans to pay for scans and tests. Please, Nigerians, help me save my son.”
For donations, contributions can be made to the following account: Account Name: Oahimije David; Account Number: 0102211482; Bank: Sterling Bank.
