Technician gets nine months’ jail for absconding without finishing work

A Jos Magistrate’s Court on Friday sentenced a 27-year-old ceiling technician, Charles Pankyes, to nine months’ imprisonment for not completing his work.

The Magistrate, Shawomi Bokkos, summarily tried and sentenced the convict who pleaded guilty to the charge.
Bokkos, in her judgment, gave the convict an option of A fine of N20,000 or spend three months in prison and pay a compensation of N170,000 or spend another six months in prison.

Earlier, the Prosecutor, Inspector Daniel Longwal, told the court that the case was reported at the Anglo-Jos Police Station on January 29 by one Yahaya Suleiman, the complainant.

Longwal said that the convict was given N491,000 to install POP in a house and he spent N321,000 and absconded without finishing the job.

The prosecutor said that the offence contravened the Plateau Penal Code Law.
