The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) recorded the highest casualty with the defection of eight members to the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) and People’s Democratic Movement (PDM) respectively citing ill treatment by the PDP in their last party primaries.

They include: Abdulmalik Cheche (Niger) who decamped from the PDP for the APC.

Other were: Wilson Nathaniel (Adamawa) PDP to SDP, Madwate Anthony (Adamawa) PDP to PDM, Benjamin Aboho (Benue) PDP to APGA, Zakari Haliru PDP to APC, Chukwuemeka Nwogbo ((Anambra) APGA-APC, Garba Umar (Kebbi) PDP to APC and Ibrahim Kamba (Kebbi) PDP to APC.

House Deputy Chairman on Media and Public Affairs, Victor Afam Ogene (Anambra) and Forte Dike (Anambra) also left APGA to APC.

Ogene explained that defections figures are not available to his office. “My office doesn’t keep record of defections. The Clerk’s office is responsible. It has up to date record of where the parties stand.
