THREE people have been feared killed following attacks in Mangu and Barkin-Ladi local government areas of Plateau State.

Local sources said apart from the dead, seven other victims of the attacks sustained various degrees of injuries and were receiving treatment by the time of filing this report yesterday.

Executive Chairman of Barkin-Ladi Local Government Area, Dr Emmanuel Loman who spoke to journalists Wednesday night, said a man and his wife were killed in their home in Kassa while two youths were gunned down in Marik Village, both in the council area, adding that both incidents occurred about the same time Tuesday night.

The council chairman said the attackers had not been identified. “All I can say is that there had been issues between herdsmen and members of the communities in Marik,” he said.

Spokesman of the Special Task Force (STF), Capt Ikedichi Iweha confirmed the attack in Marik but said only one person died. “The attack in Marik took place around 10 pm on Tuesday. We were the ones who convened the victims to the hospital, so we know what we are talking about,” Iweha said.
