Govt names Duke information minister
PRESIDENT Goodluck Jonathan has appointed Minister of Tourism, Culture and National Orientation Edem Duke as minister to superintend over the affairs of the Ministry of Information.
A statement from the Secretary to the Government of the Federal (SGF) Anyim Pius Anyim said the Duke is now to take over from Nurudeen Muhammad, the Minister of State Foreign Affairs who was given the responsibility when a vacuum was created with the exit of the then Minister Labaran Maku, who left to contest for the office of governor in Nasarawa state.
“The President’s directive followed the disengagement of Dr. Muhammad, who is now the Deputy Governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Jigawa State, in the April 11, 2015 Governorship election.
“Duke has since resumed as the supervising Minister of Information,” the statement said.
