Gunmen attack security checkpoint along Bauchi-Jos road

THE Police Command in Bauchi on Monday said about 30 gunmen had attacked a security checkpoint along Bauchi-Jos road on Sunday.

A statement issued in Bauchi by the Public Relations Officer of the command, DSP Haruna Mohammed, said the gunmen emerged from Takandan-Giwa forest near Nabordo village.

It said the suspects blocked the Highway and killed a female passenger, while another female passengers was injured during the incident.

It said a combined effort of the police and army, however, engaged the gunmen in a fierce battle before being forced to abandoned their mission.

The command said normalcy had returned in the area, while the suspects were being pursued. (NAN)
