INEC promises to check electoral fraud in Kwara

THE Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Kwara says it has put in place a system that can check irregularities during the general elections.

Dr Emmanuel Onuchenyo, the Resident Electoral Commissioner in the state, said this at a news conference in llorin on Saturday, telling politicians not to engage in fraudulent acts the elections.

He noted that the use of card reader machine would assist the commission to detect impersonation, electoral fraud and other irregularities.

He also urged politicians to expand their scope of campaign by canvassing for more votes rather than engage in electoral fraud.

The commissioner disclosed that the state had recorded 72 per cent in the distribution and collection of Permanent Voter Cards.

He said that INEC in the state recorded such improvement because of voter education campaigns embarked upon by the commission and other relevant agencies.(NAN)
