Kidnapped Auchi Poly lecturer dumped by river
THERE is fear in Auchi Polytechnic Community as a lecturer whose full identity could not be immediately ascertained but lectures at the Computer Science Department of the school, kidnapped for over five days, was found unconscious near a river in the community.
There are no clear reasons for the kidnap and eventual dumping but The Guardian gathered that he is one of those agitating for the polytechnic to key into the e-payment system of the federal government which has been embraced by several tertiary institutions and other federal government agencies and parastals.
“As we speak, he is in the hospital and has not been able to say anything about his ordeal. I don’t understand what this place is turning into,” an associate told The Guardian Monday.
Efforts to reach the polytechnic’s Public Relations Officer (PRO), Mustapha Oshiobugie has not been successful as at the time of filing this report.
However a senior police officer at the Auchi Area Command of Nigeria Police debunked the half dead theory as he said the victim has been found and they are still investigating to know whether it was a case of kidnap or abduction “because no ransom was asked or paid for his release.”
