TROOPS of 7 Division of Nigerian Army in Borno State have dislodged and reclaimed the communities earlier seized by the Boko Haram Islamic sect in parts of the state.

Specifically, in the early hours of Monday, the military via  “highly coordinated air assaults” regained Monguno, Marte and other communities on shores of Lake Chad during its ongoing cordon and search operations.

According to a statement by the Director Defence Information, Maj.-Gen. Chris Olukolade, a number of terrorists as well as truckloads of rice, beans, and other logistics meant for the insurgents were also impounded at Baga,  which fell to the grips of the militants on January 3 this year.

“Casualty inflicted and arms recovered as well as other outcome of the operation in Monguno, Marte and other communities already secured, will be determined after the ongoing cordon and search in the environs,” the statement read.

“The air and land operation is continuing with aggressive advance towards other designated communities and locations meant to be cleared in the ongoing offensive against the terrorists,” it  added.
