Nigerian Correctional Service, (NCoS), has announced the recapture of two awaiting trial inmates that escaped a Medium Security Custodial Centre, in Katsina.

A communique issued by the state Public Relations Officer, (PRO), Najibullah Idris contains that the duo escaped from custody on the 17th of October, 2023 but an immediate search party was constituted in collaboration with sister security agencies leading to the arrest of one of the fugitives, Ibrahim Muhammad Lawal, also known as Abba Kala.

“In order to recapture the remaining one, the Service deployed its e-tracking mechanism as well as overt and covert intelligence gathering which resulted in the recapture of the second escapee, Musa Isah, yesterday, 19th December, 2023, in Kaduna metropolis.

“It is on this note that the Nigerian Correctional Service Katsina State Command wishes to inform the general public that there is no cause for alarm as both escapees are now in custody.”

Meanwhile,Controller General of Corrections, Haliru through the Controller of Corrections Katsina State Command, Muhammad Abdulmumin Haruna, appreciates the effort of the search team and further assures the public of the service’s continuous resolve to secure all custodial centres in Nigeria.
