EDO State Police Command in Ekpoma, Edo State Tuesday averted what could have led to a bloody clash between supporters of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the All Progressives Congress (APC) after several permanent voters card were said to have been allegedly recovered at the residence of a member of PDP.

It was gathered that the PDP member was apprehended in a new generation bank in Ekpoma when he attempted to use an apparently stolen ATM card to withdraw money. Customers at the bank were said to have raised alarm to alert the security operatives in the bank, who were said to have arrested the suspect and handed him over to the police.

The cards were said to have been discovered when police took him to his house to search the place and found the cards in his room. He was said to have confessed to the police that the cards belongs to a House of Representatives candidate from Edo Central.

The atmosphere became charged until policemen and officers of the Department of State Security (DSS), whisked the suspect away, while the police dispersed the party supporters who were said to have almost engaged in a free for all.

Spokesman of the Edo State Police Command, Joseph Edoigiawerie could not be reached but a senior police officer at the command said they were yet to be briefed as at the time of this report.
