TROOPS of 7 Division of Nigerian Army in Borno State on Monday at about 6.45am clashed with Boko Haram gunmen at Konduga village, while attempting to recapture it with herds of cattle crossing the road that leads to Maiduguri.

Konduga had been severally attacked by insurgents and equally repelled by soldiers, 40 kilometres east of Maiduguri, the state capital.

Bukar Fantami, a resident that fled to Maiduguri Monday afternoon said that the clash that lasted for about 25 minutes, before the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) fighter jet arrived and killed all the terror suspects that disguised as cattle herdsmen crossing the Maiduguri-Bama raod.

Confirming the incident in Maiduguri, a military source said that the several attacks on the village, was to “pave ways and access” to launch attacks on the state capital.
