AN amalgamation of traders association under the aegis of the Coalition of Markets and Traders Association in Lagos has declared support for the upcoming general elections in the country, by mobilizing their members to obtain the Permanent Voters Card.

The group, which is made up of the Association of Igbos in Commerce, Traders Rights Protection Initiative, Amalgamated Traders Association Lagos and The Market Leaders Association of Nigeria, in over 120 markets in Lagos State, noted that it has encouraged its members to ensure full participation in the electoral processes and mostly, to vote in the forth coming elections.

President of the coalition, Chief Nnamdi Nwigwe, urged all members across Lagos and the entire country to maintain peace and order before, during and after the electioneering period and to resist the temptation of being used by desperate politicians to foment trouble.

“Our attention has been drawn to the activities of political jobbers and contractors who seem to connive with some dubious elements from the trading community, parading themselves as leaders of market organizations under different names and have been defrauding unsuspecting politicians and political office seekers in the name of mobilizing market associations and traders.
