NiDCOM, Dubai join forces to boost diaspora engagement

The Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), on Tuesday, announced its collaboration and support for the upcoming Sustainability, Opportunity, Future, Technologies (S.O.F.T.) Conference, scheduled to take place in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, from July 29 to 30, 2025.

They said that the partnership aims to enhance diaspora engagement and participation in Africa’s development agenda.

In a letter addressed to Dr. Godwin Aigboiose Omage, Chairman of GAF Africa, the Godwin Aigboviose Foundation, and Eki Co-Net, on May 8th, 2025, the Chairman/CEO of NiDCOM, Abike Dabiri-Erewa, acknowledged receipt of the invitation to collaborate on the diaspora engagement aspect of the conference.

Dabiri-Erewa expressed the Commission’s appreciation for the initiative, affirming its alignment with NiDCOM’s mission.

She stated that the Commission would support the conference within its professional capacity.

She said: “The S.O.F.T. Conference is positioned as a significant global event focused on driving Africa’s economic transformation through sustainability, opportunities, and future technologies.

“It aims to unite entrepreneurs, innovators, investors, and policymakers to foster partnerships and explore investment opportunities across the African continent.

“The conference intends to create a platform for global investment networks to participate in shaping Africa’s role in the global economy through strategic investments and collaborative innovation. It will feature insights from industry leaders, discussions on public-private partnerships, and showcases of technological advancements in areas like AI, cybersecurity, fintech, and energy solutions.”

Dr. Godwin Aigboiose Omage is the Chairman of GAF Africa, the Godwin Aigboviose Foundation, and Eki Co-Net, the organisations behind the S.O.F.T. Conference.

Dr. Godwin Aigboiose Omage, who leads the organising institutions, has been actively mobilising stakeholders for the conference.

He envisions it as a platform for building bridges, unlocking investment pipelines, and showcasing Africa’s opportunities through the lens of technology and shared prosperity.

He highlighted the conference’s role in fostering collaboration between billionaires, policymakers, and tech innovators to create actionable funding opportunities for climate-smart government projects.

Omage also noted the anticipated participation of global investors and leaders from various regions, all focused on supporting key projects aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

He believes the S.O.F.T. Conference will be a pivotal moment for African stakeholders seeking to leverage sustainable opportunities, finance, and technology for the continent’s future growth.
