US based Jay Newton has concluded plans to donate groceries, essential food items, and articles of clothing to the less privileged in Lagos state, Nigeria. These donations are part of his 3 days of Christmas giveaway special outreach project targeted at the less privileged, orphans and widows in selected communities in Lagos state.

Speaking on the initiative the Prophet EJ who is also the founder and lead pastor of Great Grace Ministries under whose auspices the outreach is being organized said food items like rice, tubers of yam, bags of garri, cartons of noodles, beans, onions, canned tomatoes, seasoning cubes, articles of clothing and cash gifts will be distributed during the outreach.

“We have also made arrangements with some doctors through the Nigerian Medical Association Lagos branch to participate and assist us by giving out free medical checks and diagnosis. Young girls will be given free sanitary pads and advice on sanitary hygiene from professionals while women will receive free cervical and breast cancer checks and tests as well.”

“Growing up in Lagos, I was aware of the various slums around the state like the Dustbin estate in Ajegunle and Maroko camps. My aim is to use this Xmas season to reach out to residents of those areas and spread love,” Newton stated.

“The ultimate plan is to make it an annual event, not just a one off thing. I am planning to also have another outreach next year in February around Valentine day. We haven’t concluded on the plans or date yet but arrangements are already being made towards bringing it to fruition,” EJ added.

“Christmas and advent period is a season of joy and giving so it seemed appropriate to hold this outreach during this Yuletide season because these gifts will be valued more now by these recipients,” Jay said.

“We all know that the government cannot do everything alone, and so it is up to well meaning Nigerians to also reach out and help whenever they can so as to complement the efforts of the government.”

Jay Newton also known as “Prophet EJ” is a Nigerian born US based singer-songwriter, producer, psalmist, and minister. He is known for his smash singles like BAD HABIT, FALLING & TRUCK featuring Nonso Amadi, NJIDE featuring Julius Kima and BAD FOR ME featuring Konshens.
