Nigerien President extols cordial relations between Nigeria, Niger
The President of Niger Republic, Alhaji
, has extolled the current cordial relations between Nigeria and Niger Republic.
He spoke in Sokoto on Sunday, when a 15-man delegation visited Gov. Aliyu Wamakko of Sokoto State to congratulate him on the electoral victory of the President-elect, retired Maj.-Gen. Muhammadu Buhari.
Alhaji Zakari Umar, the Majority Leader of the Nigerien National Assembly, headed the delegation that conveyed the president’s message.
According to Isoufou, “the citizens of Niger Republic were happy with the peaceful conduct of the Nigerian 2015 general elections.
“We were all concerned before the polls on how they were going to turn out, but all Nigeriens were happy with the peace and unity that had reigned in Nigeria after the elections.”
Responding, Gov.Wamakko commended Isoufou for dispatching the delegation to Nigeria.
” Nigeria and Niger have been having excellent relations for several decades and this will be sustained as we are brothers and sisters.”
Similarly, Gov.Wamakko received the state executives of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who paid him a congratulatory visit.
Alhaji Usman Danmadamin-Isa, Acting State Chairman of the party, said the visit was in recognition of Wamakko’s contributions to the success of the party at the just concluded polls.
In his response, Wamakko said that the success recorded by the party was a collective one, even as he called for more patience, prayers and advice from all Nigerians.
