The Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Abimbola Owoade, has said there is no rift between him and the Ooni of Ife, Oba Eniitan Adeyeye Ogunwusi, just as he revealed that he has plans to pay the monarch a visit soon.

According to him, the reason why he’s yet to visit the Ooni of Ife since he got crowned as the Alaafin is because the monarch traveled to Kazakhstan.

This was as he revealed that he and the Ooni are in good terms and have never had any verbal altercation before.

The Alaafin spoke in Yoruba, “Before we started making plans for our tour, one of the monarchs I had in mind to visit is Kabiyesi Onirisa. Just about four days ago, I discussed with my PA and COS to seek an appropriate time to pay him visit. They spoke with his own PA and got the information that he (Ooni of Ife) travelled to Kazakhstan.”

Further speaking, Oba Owoade blamed misleading information on the internet for the purported rift between him and the Ooni.

“It is those who know nothing about what’s going on that are saying rubbish on the internet. I and Kabiyesi Onirisa have no fight; we’ve not had any verbal quarrel of any kind. I remember we once spoke on phone when Kabiyesi Soun was with me. Soun called him on phone and handed it to me to speak with him and I did.

“There’s no fight between us. It is rumour mongers that are trying to create problems,” he said.
