COMMANDANT General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Abdullahi Gana Muhammadu has ordered the deployment of 5,000 NSCDC personnel and a sizable number of sniffer dogs and other security machinery to ensure the success of today’s governorship polls in Kogi State.

Muhammadu, who issued this directive at the Corps’ National Headquarters in Abuja, assured that a robust security architecture had been put in place to guarantee security of lives and property of the electorates while adequate arrangements had also been made for officers and men of the corps to discharge their constitutional mandate without fear or favour.

He called on all the political gladiators to play by the rules and not to take laws into their hands by carrying out any act capable of breaching the peaceful conduct of the election. He also implored politicians to embrace the spirit of sportsmanship.

‘’Every competition has a win or lose situation but the spirit of sportsmanship will enable the loser concede defeat without bitterness while embracing the winner for emerging victorious,’’ he said.
