WITH no form of concrete communication yet established with family members four days after her abduction, more interest and professional groups, including the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Africa Network for Economic Justice (ANEEJ) and other civil society organisations (CSOs) in Edo State yesterday appealed for the immediate and unconditional release of Mrs. Justina Ojo.

The captive, who is wife of the Executive Director, Environmental Rights Action/Friends of the Earth (ERA/FoEN), Dr. Godwin Uyi Ojo, was on Monday night whisked away from their Isihor, Benin City residence by gunmen shortly after arriving home from a church service.

His promises are hinged on effective and efficient implementation of the capital side of the budget! Unless and until it’s passed, only then can we begin to judge His performance based on the same budget!!!

          The budget is historic??? YES!!!
It’s the first time we are proposing 30% for capital expenditure, one wonders why it wasn’t so during the years of oil boom, one can only imagine where we will have been now, had that being the case!
Agreed, the budget had issues on the recurrent side, but it’s the duty of NASS to expunge anything not worth it, and I believe they are doing that. That aside, the thrust of the budget is expanding capital expenditure to ensure our enormous physical infrastructure gap will finally be getting attention (funny during years of plenty awoof oil money no one thought of that). Without infrastructure, no meaningful economy can have REAL growth!!!
So u see; it’s up to us to ensure the Budget is efficiently implemented! Cause the implementation of that is the only way our local business climate will improve and will then bring in REAL investors!
