Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki and his wife, Betsy, yesterday, cast their votes at Emokpai Primary School, Mission Road, Benin at Ward 4, Unit 19.
The governor arrived at the polling unit at 11.05 a.m. and voted about 11.13 a.m.
Speaking after voting, the governor said the turnout of voters was impressive, despite late commencement of the exercise.
He said: ‘Although INEC started a bit late in this centre, you can see the turnout is quite impressive. My concern is that the process should be hastened to clear the crowd.
“From my observation, it is almost flawless.”
On snatching of ballot boxes and papers at a polling unit on Butcher Street, off Akpapakva, he said: “It is too early to snatch ballot because voting has not really taken place yet.
“We need to confirm that story. It doesn’t make sense to snatch ballot box that doesn’t have ballot papers in it. We will check that and verify. But I am confident because we made adequate preparations to ensure every polling unit has no fewer than five security officers.”
