Okoronkwo pledges zero-tolerance for misconduct at Ebonyi agric college

The Provost of the Federal College of Agriculture, Ishiagu, Ebonyi State, Dr. Micheal Okoronkwo, said that the school is producing future economy leaders that will contribute in building and reshaping the economy of the country.

Okoronkwo stated this during the 37th matriculation ceremony of the school held on Saturday.

He urged the new students to shun cultism and malpractice, but to concentrate on the reason why they were admitted into the school, adding that the school will sanction anyone that is found wanting.

The event took place on the institution’s premises in Ishiagu, Ivo Local Government Area, and marked a significant milestone for the students as they officially began their academic journeys.

The Provost welcomed the new students and their families, and further expressed gratitude for choosing the Federal College of Agriculture, Ishiagu, as their preferred institution for higher learning, adding that what they are producing here are future economy leaders.

He stressed the importance of the matriculation ceremony, which symbolizes the full membership of students in their chosen academic programs.

“Our matriculation oath requires students to be diligent in the pursuit of their studies, acquire the requisite knowledge, and abide by the laws of the College,” he said.

He underscored the significance of good conduct as part of the students’ commitment to the institution, making a passionate appeal to the students to steer clear of detrimental influences, specifically cultism, corruption, examination malpractice, and other social vices that undermine academic integrity and the values of the institution.

His words: “We implore you to avoid the attractions of cultism, corruption, examination malpractice, and other vices. Federal College of Agriculture, Ishiagu, has a zero-tolerance policy towards cultism and cult-related activities, as well as examination malpractice.”

The Provost’s remarks highlight the administration’s commitment to fostering a safe and academically conducive environment for all students.

The ceremony concluded with a call for students to embody discipline and serve as positive ambassadors of the college, as they embark on this pivotal phase of their education.
