AS Kaduna State government approves the Tax Codification Law, it has unveiled further steps towards improving Internally Generated Revenue (IGR), with the appointment of former chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), Mrs. Ifueko Omoigui-Okauru as revenue consultant.

The government yesterday directed the management of Kaduna State Internal Revenue Service (KADIRS), “to pursue a programme of active engagements with broad segments of the private sector, local councils and individuals resident in the state,” to boost the state’s revenue under the new tax system.

Media aide to Governor Nasir El-Rufai, Mallam Samuel Aruwan, said in a statement that, “the revenue agency is also accelerating measures to strengthen its capacity to discharge the enormous mandate,” pointing out that, “this includes measures to retool the operational model and strategy of the agency and the development of a human resource framework that ensures a proper fit between the people working for KADIRS and the goals of the agency.”
