STATE Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Clement Faboyede, has reiterated the cooperation of the party towards the successful conduct of the April 23 council polls in Ondo State, though some opposition parties are boycotting the poll.

Faboyede said this during the week when submitting the names of the 18 chairmanship candidates, 18 vice chairmen and 203 councilors, who will participate in the poll to the state chairman of Ondo State Independent Electoral Commission (ODIEC), Prof. Olugbenga Ige.

He informed the ODIEC boss that it was in line with the notice given to all political parties on January 15, 2016 by the commission ahead of the election into the aforementioned positions across the state.

According to him: “Consequent upon the time-table issued by ODIEC, February 11 to12, 2016 are the dates for the submission of list of candidates and collection of Forms CF001 and CF002 for the chairmanship election, and on that note, I am here to present to you the list of our candidates for your administrative scrutiny/processing.”

Meanwhile, the candidate of the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) in Ifedore LGA, Mr. Arije Loye declared that he would defeat the ruling party in the council and win all the 10 wards of the council.

Arije, who was a supervisory councilor noted that the party is popular in the area and his antecedents as grassroots politician will bear considerably on his victory, since the electorates will vote for personality rather than the party.

The PRP chairmanship candidate promised to bring more dividends of democracy to the people by distributing over 100, 000 palm tree seedlings to farmers in the area.

The chairman of the party in Ifedore, Mr. Adebayo Ojo, while submitting the names of the party’s candidates to the electoral officer, Bola Faloro in Ijare, asserted that the party will not boycott the election.

Adebayo mentioned that the election is a political litmus test for the opposition parties to test their popularity at the grassroots, saying the credibility and acceptability of the party’s candidates will give them easy victory at the poll.
