Ondo woos doctors, nurses, others amid revitalisation of PHCs

• Unveils non-state actors for Impact Malaria Project
• Aiyedatiwa distributes relief materials to rainstorm victims in five LGs

Ondo State Government has said that it plans to absorb doctors and nurses, as well as other healthcare professionals seeking employment in the state, to bolster the gaps in the health sector.

According to the Special Adviser to the Governor on Health, Prof. Simidele Odimayo, the move became imperative following the ongoing revitalisation and upgrading of the Primary Healthcare Centres (PHCs) across the 203 wards of the state.

Odimayo, who stated this during the unveiling of Non-State Actors (NSA) for the Impact Malaria Project in Akure, the state capital, disclosed that the incentives for health workers in the state would be at par with the Federal Government’s.

The governor’s aide, who gave the assurance that the non-state actors had demonstrated determination to complement the efforts of both the Ondo State Government and other stakeholders in fighting malaria, commended people’s efforts in the provision of accessible healthcare for the populace.

On his part, the Project Coordinator of the IMPACT Malaria Project, Dr Waheed Abolaji Afolayan, who analysed the various efforts put in place to arrive at the selection of the non-state actors, said that members are committed to curbing malaria in the state, noting that efforts will be intensified on awareness creation on available services and where to get such services.

IN another development, Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, yesterday, distributed relief materials to victims of the rainstorm in five local councils in the state.

The governor, while speaking during the distribution of the relief materials, said the distribution of the relief materials was in line with his administration’s agenda to swiftly provide relief to victims of natural disasters in the state.

Aiyedatiwa, who was represented by his deputy, Olayide Adelami, said the distribution was in fulfilment of his administration’s promise to bring succour to communities ravaged by a rainstorm a few months ago.

He reaffirmed his commitment to the welfare of the people of the state where they live, work and play.

The governor commended the team from the Ondo State Emergency Management Agency (ODSEMA) for working with the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and other relevant stakeholders in ensuring disasters are mitigated and the government responds promptly to those affected by the incidents.

Remarking, Chairman of Akure South Local Council, Donald Fasua, praised the state government for its efforts in ensuring relief for the victims.
