Osun 2026: Omoluabi Progressives vows to take over governance

Tinubu trusted his life with Aregbesola, says Adeyeye

A former Governor of Osun State, Rauf Aregbesola, has said that his political group, Omoluabi Progressives, will take over reigns of power in the state after the 2026 governorship election. He maintained that there is no negotiation in the desire of his political group to win the forthcoming poll.

The former governor expressed confidence that any candidate his group presented to contest the election would emerge victorious. Aregbesola, while speaking at a stakeholders’ meeting in Ilesa, said the group’s vision to entrench good governance in the state is still intact.

In a video, members of the group were seen singing and hailing Aregbesola, expressing confidence in ruling the state as of next year. They said they would soon gather in Abere, the Osun State Government House, to rejoice over their expected electoral victory.

HOWEVER, Prof. Olusola Adeyeye has said that the frosty relationship between President Bola Tinubu and Aregbesola could count as one of the seven wonders of the world.

Adeyeye said the broken relationship is difficult to understand. He expressed these sentiments when he spoke at the weekend on Channels Television. He said: “Aregbesola was Commissioner for Works when Tinubu was the Governor of Lagos State. Thereafter, Aregbesola, with a very massive support from Tinubu, morally and financially, became a two-term governor of Osun State, and after that, Minister for Interior under the APC Government of President Muhammadu Buhari.

“But the very close friends have since fallen apart to the surprise and shock of those who knew how deep their love for each other was.”

“The sad situation must have been as a result of a political tussle.”
