The Oyo state House of Assembly, on Tuesday, urged the executive arm of the state to implement stringent measures against fraud, criminal activities, among others, in hotels, guest houses, and other relaxation centres across the state.
The call was made during a motion moved by a member representing Oluyole State constituency, Waheed Akintayo, seconded by the Chief Whip and member representing Atiba State Constituency, Gbenga Oyekola.
The lawmakers raised concern about rising cases of abduction in hotels and other hospitality centres in the country, including the state, saying the government should as a matter of urgency jointly with hospital managers implement security measures including using functional Closed Circuit Television Cameras, liaising with security operatives and as well ensure fuller scrutiny of lodgers in hotels, guest houses and other hospital centres.
The House unanimously urged the committees on security and tourism to meet the Ministry of Tourism and related hospital managers in the state for mechanisms to stem criminality in hotels, guest rooms, and relaxation centres in Oyo State.
The House has read the Council of Obas and Chieftaincy Affairs 2025 further amendment bill for the first time, and committed, while new nominees for the Local Government Service Commission were directed to be screened on Wednesday at the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, and report to the House on Thursday.
