Oyo State Muslim Community, in collaboration with various Islamic organisations, has voiced its concern regarding the ongoing Israel-Hamas conflict, lamenting the suffering Palestinians are experiencing as a result of the crisis.
The Muslims after the weekly Friday prayers, carried placard with various inscriptions that include:
“Justice for Palestinians is Justice for Humanity”, “Those Who Support Israel Are The People of Ignorance and No Conscience”, “Israel is Engaging in Genocide Power of the Word, Where Are Thou?”, and “United Nations Stop Being Biased Stop Being Evil, Allow Palestine to Breathe” at the Oja Oba Central Mosque.
They condemned the injustices faced by the Palestinians, accusing Israel of suppressing their rights and aspirations.
The Director, International Institute for Human Heritage, Atta Abdulrasheed, while expressing solidarity with Palestine, said that the Palestinians have exhibited remarkable resilience, steadfastly resisting colonisation efforts by the Israeli government. He urged the United Nations (UN) to take action that will address the ongoing crisis.
Atta said: “Nigeria has always advocated for liberalisation. The question arises: why should the plight of the Palestinians be any different? This should not be a stain on the history of humanity, for all humans are equal. That’s why, when the world seems silent and the United Nations appears passive, as Muslims, we are taking an active stance.
“We are telling the UN that if Israel’s actions go unchallenged, it could render the UN ineffective.
The world may turn a deaf ear to its pleas in future incidents and their influence may diminish. The UN should consider imposing sanctions against Israel, America, and its allies.”
Atta called on the global community to boycott all things related to Israel, including tourism and exports.
