pdp-apc- 1.01.10 PMALL is now set for today’s supplementary governorship election ordered by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Kogi State after the Federal High Court, Abuja, ruled that it does not have jurisdiction to pass any judgment on the matters before it since they were electoral matters.

In his ruling yesterday, the presiding judge, Justice Gabriel Kolawole said all grievances should be channeled to the election petitions tribunal. He further said he lacked jurisdiction to pass judgment and gave the go ahead for the conduct of the supplementary election.

With the ruling yesterday and the earlier adamant attitude of many of the litigants to the supplementary election, it was not clear if they would participate in the exercise.

However, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state in a swift reaction after the ruling said they were ready for the supplementary election.

Speaking with The Guardian in Lokoja, the Publicity Secretary of the party, Bode Ogunmola said the PDP is a law-abiding party, adding that since the court said it has no jurisdiction to entertain their grievances and asked that the supplementary election should continue, they would participate in the election fully.
