People Defecting From PDP To APC Are Political Jobbers, Says Moro
MINISTER of Interior, Comrade Abba Moro has described politicians jumping ship from the Peoples Democratic party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC), after the ruling party lost at the Presidential and National Assembly elections, as political fortune seekers who are into politics to feed their pockets.
Moro, who made the assertion in Oturkpo yesterday while chatting with journalists on the outcome of the last presidential/National Assembly elections, said such movement was not good for democracy in the country.
He described the defection of some members of the PDP from Benue South Senatorial District to the APC as an unfortunate political development, noting that the action has demonstrated that they were not real members of the PDP but moles that aided and abetted the opposition party’s victory against PDP.
Moro, who boasted that the defectors would no longer have that opportunity again, said: “It has been like this with some people since 1999. They continue to jump political ship.
And the people that are decamping are characteristic of that sort. If you will recall, they were people who were in PDP but were working for APC. This is the kind of people.
For instance, people like Gen. Lawrence Onoja and John Ochoga that were in opposition before they joined PDP are more of moles in the polity,” he maintained.
While urging Benue electorates not to lose hope but to come out en-mass and vote for the governorship candidate of the PDP, Mr. Terhemen Tarzoor and the PDP House of Assembly candidates in today’s election, Moro expressed optimism that it would not be Uhuru for the APC after the elections.
“I urge members of the PDP to continue to keep faith with the party. What happened on March 28 was an accident to the party.
In any case, it was not a good tenet to measure the capacity of the PDP. So, I want to believe that the PDP candidate, Terhemen Tarzoor will win to tackle the challenges of salaries of workers and pensioners.”
