Police arraign two for damaging vehicle windscreen

Two men, Adam Ganiyu and Sodiq Aremu, have been arraigned before an Ojo Magistrates’ Court in Lagos for allegedly damaging the windscreen of a Jeep belonging to a complainant.

Ganiyu, 22, and Aremu, 24, are standing trial before Magistrate Lateef Layemi on a two-count charge of conspiracy and wilful damage to property. Both defendants pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The prosecutor, ASP Simon Uche, told the court that the defendants committed the offense on April 6 at No. 8 Ogboye str, in the Jakande area of Ojo, Lagos.

He alleged that the defendants conspired to maliciously damage the windscreen of a Hyundai Jeep, valued at N350,000, belonging to one Mr. Arifamajeun Ajagbe.

He said the vehicle was parked at the said location when the incident occurred. Uche added that a report was made to the police and, following investigations, the defendants were arrested.

He said that the offense contravened Sections 350 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The court granted the defendants bail in the sum of N200,000 each, with two sureties in like sum. Magistrate Layemi adjourned the case until May 28 for mention.
