Police arrest phone thief armed with knife in Adamawa

The Adamawa State Police Command has apprehended a young man, Ferdinand Yerima, for armed robbery in the state.
The command arrested the man on January 18, 2025, as part of its efforts to combat all forms of violent crimes within the state

In a statement, the command’s spokesperson, SP Suleiman Nguroje, said the suspect was arrested after police operatives attached to Hong Divisional Police Headquarters responded to a distress call about an armed robbery attack.

He said the criminals armed themselves with offensive weapons and attacked Mrs. Laraba Akanawaya, a staff with the College of Education, Hong, and robbed her of her phone.

“One of the suspects, identified as Ferdinand Yerima, was arrested at the scene, and a jackknife used in committing the crime along with the stolen phone was recovered, while others fled to avoid arrest,” Nguroje said.

He said the Commissioner of Police, CP Dankombo Morris, has directed the Deputy Commissioner of Police Investigation to take over the case for discreet investigation.

He said the commissioner of police equally reaffirmed the Command’s determination to eradicate criminal activities across the state and urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities.
