Police rescue abducted victim in Calabar as kidnappers escape with bullet wounds

Police in Calabar has rescued one Mrs. Ruth Jereme from kidnappers in Calabar.
 
She was kidnapped yesterday by three armed men, at her residence, N0 3B Ikot Nkebre in Calabar about 11:00 a.m.
 
It was gathered that she was whisked away in her SUV, which later broke down and the kidnappers shot a yet to be identified man, snatched his Toyota Highlander with Registration number: Cross River DUK 562 PE.
  
Following a tip-off, Operation Akpakwu operatives deployed at Agro Feed, Eight Miles Calabar, intercepted the kidnappers.
      
The victim was rescued and the vehicle recovered with a locally made pistol,  while the kidnappers escaped with gunshot wounds.
  
The state Commissioner of Police, Aminu Alhassan, confirmed the incident, stating that the victim is safe, while the recovered vehicle and a locally made pistol are in their custody.
 
“ The victim is safe but we regret that the suspects escaped with bullet wounds,” Alhassan stated.
