Persistent power outages have brought business activities to a halt in metropolitan Dutse, the Jigawa State capital.
The Guardian gathered that the deplorable power outage has plunged most of the city into intermittent darkness, sometimes for three days at a stretch.
Consequently, electricity consumers marched to the Kano Electricity Distribution Company (KEDCO) offices in Dutse to protest power outages and outrageous power bills.
A businessman, Sabo Maranjuwa, said he has been running at a loss and could not afford to run on petrol.
Also, another businessman, Bashir Garu Dutse, said, “Honestly, our leaders have failed woefully as they can’t afford to provide even light.”
Sources close to KEDCO said the power outage was not peculiar to Dutse, and efforts were ongoing to restore power.
