Rotary DG urges members to render selfless services to humanity

The District Governor of Rotary International District 9112, Femi Adenekan, has urged members to imbibe the magic of Rotary by providing selfless services that changes another person’s life for good,

Speaking during his visit to Rotary Club of Lagos Central recently, he further explained that the magic of Rotary is what is done to motivate others and transform their lives.

President Rotary Club of Lagos Central, John Akingbade said the members were glad to have the first DG of District 9112 and his team with them on a familiarity visit and fellowship.

He added, “as a Club, established some 43 years ago we have always been guided in our selection of project by the Rotary’s seven areas of focus which are: Peace building and conflict prevention; disease prevention and treatment; water, sanitation and hygiene; maternal and child health; basic education and literacy; community economic development and protecting the environment.”

He said the club was currently conducting a need assessment of our local community to take on some projects centred around the seven areas of focus.

Speaking on achievements, he said the club,  ‘joined RC Gbagada South and RC Ikeja Royale (Prov) to host a ground breaking project. an all-girls robotics competition for girls with disabilities at the Teslim Balogun Stadium; paid the sum of N250,000 to co-sponsor the tree planting project and save our planet and coastal area from natural disasters; paid the sum of N250,000 to sponsor youths will be trained and empowered to choose a vocation for themselves; sponsored 23 participants to participate in a skill acquisition project which can be turned to money making ventures (paper crafting training programme) and added three new members who have paid the membership dues as specified.’
