A grandson of a popular musician, Comfort Omoge, Ogoirawo Omoge, has been stabbed to death by a scavenger in the Okitipupa Local Council Area of Ondo State.
Ogoirawo, who was also a musician, was stabbed in the throat along the Ayeka/Igodan-Igbokoda highway during a brawl with the scavenger.
With the incident creating tension in the community, a source in the community disclosed that during a confrontation with the grandson of the legendary music icon, the suspect pulled out a dagger to slit the victim’s throat.
According to the source, who craved anonymity, the disagreement between the deceased and the scavenger had, within a few minutes, spiralled out of control before the intervention of other people.
He said, Prince Ogoirawo Omoge was brutally killed, and the attacker took to his heels afterwards. Ogo was rushed to the hospital, but he was pronounced dead by medical personnel.”
While confirming the incident, the police spokesperson in the state, Olayinka Ayanlade, revealed that a suspect has been arrested and is currently in police custody.
He said, “Yes, I can confirm the incident occurred on April 17, 2025. One suspect has been arrested and is currently being held in custody.”
Meanwhile, the Chairman of Okitipupa Local Council of the state, Andrew Ogunsakin, has engaged with local leaders, including representatives from the Hausa/Fulani community, traditional rulers, and youth groups, to douse the rising tension in the community.
Ogunsakin, who stated that the meeting had helped to further foster commitment to harmony and peaceful coexistence in the area, disclosed that a coordinated effort of the residents in the area with security agencies has led to the arrest of a suspect, identified as Machido Abubakar.
The council boss, who urged residents to remain calm and be law-abiding, extended his condolences to the family of the deceased, promising them support in their pursuit of justice.
